Let’s face it, not all curls are created equal. But with 65% of the global population identifying as having a curl pattern, we need to start the conversation.
What “type” of curl do I have?

We’ve seen a shift in hair trends over the past year and clients are wondering: do I have curly hair? What type of curl do I have? For most, the answer is not as simple as “Type 3 curls.” Truth is, most curly-haired clients have different curl patterns or “types” throughout their head. As stylists, it is our duty to diagnose scalp and hair concerns, regardless of curl type.

How do I manage my curls?
With an influx of clients tossing their blow dryer and embracing the natural journey, where do they begin? Let’s start from the top; curly-haired clients tend to have dryness on their ends because of the uneven distribution of natural oils along the hair strand, so deep conditioning treatments are an ABSOLUTE MUST-HAVE! Weekly treatments will help to ensure softness, strength, and even definition in curls and coils. For some, the infrequency of scalp cleansing may cause oil to build up and cause scalp irritation and flaking. I would recommend introducing the Kerastase Fusio Dose scalp scrub to your weekly regimen, in order to provide a clean canvas on wash day.

Can I just Wash-N-Go?
Now, we move into managing a controlled style. When Assessing a guest’s hair and curl pattern, stylists are essentially looking for 3 components : Are your curls Hydrated and Soft? Are your curls strong enough to resist breakage? Can you see definition in the curl pattern? By targeting what specifically is lacking in your routine, we are able to recommend product(s) that compliment your lifestyle, while addressing a need for your curls.
