[salon]718 Stylist, Ello, recently attended a bridal class at Moroccanoil Academy who are one of the leaders for styling products and education in our industry. Here is her story on her experience at their academy:
Going to the Moroccanoil Academy for the first time was such an amazing experience. The academy is such a beautiful and welcoming place. The aesthetic is in unison with what the company represents.
Meeting Ashley Fisher was a great experience. Her talent is effortlessly perfect. she was so knowledgeable in the bridal department. It was shocking to me that there are about 90 weddings on average on the weekends in Charleston, South Carolina.
This bridal season is definitely different this year. A lot of the 90s is slowly creeping up on us. In the greatest ways. There will be a lot of soft flawless romantic looks. Brides will be looking for more looks with lift and less volume.
What I loved about Ashley Fisher style of up dos was that she was very specific about not using too much product. Not much of the all over hairspray that we are used to. She used very small amounts or close to none. She stated that too much product does not allow us to move the hair in the way it was meant to fall. She suggested using Moroccanoil Dry Shampoo on super fine hair. Too much product changes the feel of the hair.
The new looks have more of an even proportion from bun to crown, noting not too many low buns this season. For one of the looks she demoed she separated the hair into three sections working on the front first. Ashley used Moroccanoil Volume Mousse in the root of the front section and the Moroccanoil Smoothing Lotion on the ends. She lifts and gives volume to the hair giving a more natural lift. She sprays medium hold Moroccanoil Hairspray in the roots before curling the hair. She suggests more of the figure eight style of curl to give a softer approach to the look and sets the front of the hair with pins. Letting the front of the hair set as she works on the back. She goes to the mid-section of the head only giving intentional volume, not teasing but softly backcombing. She curls the rest of hair.
I loved the way she places each curl. Pining everything forward into the teased section. The way she set everything in place looked so beautiful and romantic.
When Ashley releases the front she places the curls into the teased crown area. She then forms the front leaving these soft romantic curls in the front framing the face. She only used the Moroccanoil Strong Hairspray in certain areas to give hold but to not look stiff or tacky in texture.
I definitely loved every part of my day of the Moroccanoil Academy. the area where we worked on the demo was perfect.
The stations are full with all of the Moroccanoil styling products for us to use and get familiar with. It was also my first time using Moroccanoil styling tools. I loved how easy they were to use. They come with safety features that turn the tools off after a certain time period of non-use.
The staff at the Moroccanoil Academy were very helpful. Walking around with anything we might need. Breakfast and lunch was provided for us. It was delicious. What I also noticed is the Moroccanoil Academy was very green friendly. Letting us know that 90% of everything there is recycled. Even the hair for cutting courses is recycled into its own bin.
I’m looking forward to coming the Moroccanoil Academy again. I highly suggest checking out their course schedule and getting in for a class! Thank you to Ashley Fisher for her amazing demos on this year’s new bridal looks and sharing so much knowledge. I left feeling so much better about doing more updos in this upcoming season! Thank you to Moroccanoil Academy for making this possible and providing such a beautiful space for us to expand our craft!
